Storelyzer — Privacy Policy

Storelyzer is a Chrome extension that analyses the storefront in your current browser tab — its products, best sellers, installed apps, theme, and brand kit. This policy explains, in plain words, what the extension does and does not do with data.

The short version

• We do not collect your personal data. There is nothing to collect it with — the extension has no analytics, no trackers, and no accounts.
• Everything the extension reads about a store is analysed locally, on your device, and stays there.
• The only request to our own server is a small anonymous download of the extension's configuration file. It carries no information about you or the pages you visit.
• Some links inside the extension are affiliate links. They are labelled, and they open only when you click them.

What we do NOT collect

• No personal data — no name, email, or account. Storelyzer has no signup.
• No browsing history. The pages you visit are never sent to us or to anyone else.
• No analytics or usage tracking of any kind, inside the extension or on our server beyond ordinary web-server logs (explained below).
• No page content. What the extension reads from a store stays in your browser.
• We do not sell or share any data with third parties. We hold no user data to sell.

What happens on your device

Storelyzer runs only when you click its toolbar icon. When you do, it:

• reads the current page's public markup (store name, meta tags, social links, theme information, colours, fonts, images, and script addresses used to recognise apps);
• fetches the store's own public product listing (/products.json) and public best-sellers page — directly from the store you are viewing, exactly as your browser would if you opened those addresses yourself. These requests go from your browser to the store; they never pass through our servers.

All of this is processed and displayed locally. Closing the tab (or navigating away) discards the analysis; closing the panel just hides it. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.

The one request to our server

The extension periodically (at most every 6 hours) downloads a small configuration file from our server. This file contains our affiliate links, display names, and app detection signatures — data the extension uses, never code it runs.

This request is anonymous: it includes no account, no identifier, no cookie, and no information about the page you are on. Like every request on the web, our server's standard access logs record the requesting IP address and time. We use these logs only for normal server operation and security, not to identify or profile anyone, and they are not combined with any other data (there is no other data).

What is stored on your device

The extension uses Chrome's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) for one thing: a cached copy of the configuration file described above, together with its version tag and the time it was fetched. When you open the panel, a screenshot of the visible page may be kept temporarily in session storage on your device to show the theme preview — it is never uploaded anywhere and disappears when the browser closes. No personal data or browsing history is ever stored. Uninstalling the extension removes the cache.

Affiliate links

Some links inside Storelyzer are affiliate links. As an affiliate, we may earn a commission when you sign up for Shopify through our link. The same applies to some app and theme links shown in the panel.

• Every affiliate link carries a visible "Affiliate link" label next to it, and the panel footer repeats the disclosure.
• An affiliate link opens only when you click it. Storelyzer never opens links on its own, never rewrites the addresses of pages you visit, and never touches cookies.
• When you click an affiliate link, you leave the extension and land on the destination website, which operates under its own privacy policy and may use its own cookies for referral tracking.

Permissions, briefly

• activeTab — temporary access to the current tab, granted only when you click the toolbar icon, so the extension can analyse the store you are looking at.
• scripting — injects the analysis code and the side panel into that tab, again only after your click.
• storage — keeps the cached configuration file described above.

The extension requests no host permissions and runs nothing until you click its icon.

Changes to this policy

If the extension's behaviour ever changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and the effective date before shipping that change.
